An Applied IoT Cluster and European Digital Innovation Hubs Event
On 26 November, the Applied IoT Cluster hosted the first in a new series of digital transformation events in Dublin, co-hosted with our partners from the European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) Network, including ENTIRE EDIH Ireland, Data2Sustain, and Enterprise Ireland. The event brought together SMEs, public sector organisations and innovation stakeholders to explore how Ireland’s digital support ecosystem is enabling organisations to accelerate their digital transformation journeys.
The session highlighted the strong collaboration between the European Digital Innovation Hubs Network and the Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateway Network, highlighting how applied research, technical expertise and funding supports can be aligned to deliver practical, business-focused solutions. Attendees gained valuable insight into how these services can be tailored to address real-world challenges, from automation and data analytics to IoT integration and early-stage research and development.
The programme opened with an overview of the EDIH programme services, delivered by Laura Clifford, outlining how organisations can access expert support to de-risk digital adoption and build internal capabilities. This was followed by an introduction to Technology Gateway supports by Mark Whelan, highlighting how Gateways provide industry with access to research infrastructure, specialist knowledge, and collaborative innovation pathways.
A key highlight of the day was a series of industry case studies, which demonstrated the tangible impact of engaging with EDIHs and Technology Gateways. Presentations from Feedalpha, ENVIRAWARE Limited, and IDEAL Technology highlighted how targeted digital supports can enable organisations to optimise operations, harness data more effectively and accelerate the development of innovative, market-ready solutions.
The event also featured an engaging panel discussion, bringing together expertise from across the innovation ecosystem. Technology Gateway Managers from across the Applied IoT Cluster including Brian Cahill from Nimbus Research Centre, Stephen Seawright from WiSAR Lab and Technology Gateway, and Liam Fitzgerald from ICS Technology Gateway at Walton Institute shared insights on emerging digital trends, common barriers to adoption and the importance of collaboration in driving meaningful digital transformation.
Events such as Accelerate Your Digital Transformation underline the critical role that collaboration plays in supporting Ireland’s digital ambitions. By bringing together EDIHs, Technology Gateways and industry, these sessions create a platform for shared learning, practical guidance and connection to the supports that can make digital transformation achievable and impactful.
We are proud to work alongside the European Digital Innovation Hubs Network and our partners across the Technology Gateway Network to support organisations at every stage of their digital journey. This event marks the first of many similar sessions planned for 2026, aimed at continuing to build awareness, capability, and confidence in digital innovation.
