Hytropics is an Irish functional beverage brand producing a sugar-free electrolyte drink formulated for balanced energy and better focus. Manufactured in Ireland and containing electrolytes, B vitamins, Ginseng and sweetened with stevia, the product was created to help people feel their best while removing the guesswork from choosing healthy options on crowded supermarket shelves. Since launch, the brand has focused on building a strong retail footprint while maintaining high quality and food safety standards

As production and retail distribution scaled and expanded, the company sought to further strengthen its packaging integrity and internal quality systems to ensure consistent product performance and compliance at scale. Utilising an Enterprise Ireland Innovation Voucher Hytropics collaborated with MiCRA Technology Gateway, based at TU Dublin (Tallaght).

Technical Expertise

The team at MiCRA provided technical expertise in the assessment of can and packaging performance, whilst also supporting root-cause investigation at a systems level and strengthening standard operating procedures. The Gateway also facilitated the development of formalised quality documentation and a quality manual aligned with best practice.

Anna Malsam emphasized the depth of expertise and range of support offered, adding that ‘MiCRA’s expertise made a real difference in strengthening our processes and supporting our expansion plans. The work was done quickly and thoroughly, keeping us informed every step of the way, ensuring the project ran smoothly and effectively.’

Tara Heffernan, Gateway Manager at MiCRA noted ‘Hytropics are a really innovative company and exciting to work with. The collaboration enabled Hytropics to strengthen confidence in its packaging and production processes, reduce technical risks as volumes scale, and establish robust systems to support continued retail growth and future market expansion’.
