Baba Dreams Ltd. are a company that supplies innovative baby products (clothing and acessories) made from natural materials that makes life easier for new parents and also gives newborn babies the best level of comfort when it comes to their sensitive skin and other issues.
The company had an idea for a natural balm product for sensitive dry skin using a nettle oil extract as the active ingredient. Knowledge on the formulation, stability and components of existing market products was lacking.
Formulation Prototyping
Several option types were developed and also the chosen ingredients were used to create a balm, a body butter and an aqueous skin cream product.
Initial chemical, mechanical and biological testing tests have proven the prototype product properties to be stable and of acceptable texture.
Another voucher is to be applied for after this one has been claimed as there is a significant level of work to be completed in order to determine the stability and also to look into a wider range of product such as a product range and other light cream types with different active oils in new formulations.

“The benefit so far to the product is that we are, through testing, finding out any potential issues with ingredients and working on how they can be rectified. This is allowing us to refine the formulations which will in turn allow us to confirm the efficacy of the products on skin. It has also been very beneficial as we now know that the products do not harm skin and we can work on getting the CSPR done to get the products on the market.
We intend to get formulations perfected and to have the shelf-life testing completed for the oil, balms, and cream and to complete the steps to get the products registered for sale. We also want to expand the range into natural shampoos and conditioners, and we have other plants we want to develop into balms, oils, and creams.”
