Fiontar Group have designed a mobile app to enhance risk management, ensuring compliance, and prioritising employee safety across diverse industry sectors. Leveraging cutting- edge digital and AI technology, their mission is to deliver real safety in real time.
Literacy levels among the construction industry vary from person to person. This can have an impact on workflows associated with maintaining safety protocols. Site managers and site supervisors are often under pressure with paperwork such as inductions, sign in/out, SPA’s (Safe Plan of Action forms), Incident reports, observations and equipment checks.
Fiontar Group wanted to streamline this process through digital transformation. All documentation would be digitised to create an innovative and quick solution for completing paperwork. This will allow customers to improve time management. This in turn will create a smooth workflow between the managers, supervisors, and operatives
Human-centred design methodology
Nimbus UX team focused on addressing key user needs identified, which comprised of digital transformation challenges, streamlining communication, improving workflows and addressing the literacy needs of end-users.
The Nimbus UX team applied a human-centred design methodology, consisting of various research, design, and prototyping activities through a collaborative and co- design strategy. Weekly online workshops were conducted to gather and review user needs, create personas, develop journey maps, user interface wireframes, and a user interface app prototype.
By transforming paper-based workflows into a seamless digital workflow, the impact of the UX and UI deliverables will enable customers to easily complete their tasks, allowing supervisors and managers improve time management.

The project fostered a collaborative process through a series of online workshops. The UX team’s research and design methodology enabled Fiontar Group to gather valuable insights, and essentially empathise with their customers’ needs. The creation of user personas, customer journey maps, and user interface wireframes facilitated a smooth transition from low-fidelity wireframes to producing detailed mobile app user interface designs. The outputs from this project will be used to further validate the value proposition with Fiontar Group’s customers, while will also be used to inform and streamline the software development process. This will enable the creation of a functional application that brings their vision to life. Fiontar Group will use these deliverables to ensure the offering meets the needs of their customers.
