Located on the TU Dublin – Tallaght campus, MiCRA Technology Gateway is an industry-focused research & development facility supported by Enterprise Ireland’s Technology Gateways programme, which is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the Southern, Eastern & Midland Regional Programme 2021-2027. Southern, Eastern & Midland Programme 2021-27.
This support enables the MiCRA Technology Gateway to be funded through industrial collaboration with Irish companies undertaking cutting edge research and development on new scientific products and processes. As a result, the MiCRA Technology Gateway has a growing portfolio of applied research making knowledge and expertise accessible to local and national industry.
The MiCRA Technology Gateway provides wide ranging technological expertise in many areas, especially in:
- Dairy, agri-food & beverage
- Human & animal healthcare/diagnostics
- Pharma/biopharma and environmental analysis
- Material development
- Analytical services and research
Key responsibilities

- Assisting MiCRA Technology Gateway Manager in promotion of the Gateway and the Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateway Network
- Providing technical overview in the initiation, management and delivery of industry projects to partner companies.
- Researching technical challenges presented by client companies.
- Designing and developing novel and creative technical solutions.
- Take responsibility for research design and outcomes.
- Specifying and sourcing materials and equipment in consultation with suppliers and client companies, as appropriate.
- Writing reports for clients, prototyping and disseminating research results through technical publications.
The successful candidate will be appointed at point (01) of the Research Assistant B Scale i.e. €37,225 gross per annum.

Qualifications
- An Honours Degree from an approved degree awarding institution or equivalent in a scientific, engineering, technology, food or closely related discipline (Essential)
Knowledge
- Strong understanding of the requirements of undertaking multiple stakeholder R&D projects from a commercial perspective (Desirable)
- Knowledge of techniques and methodologies used in STEM research (Desirable)
Experience
- Evidence of business development skills that led to a strong collaboration record with industrial partners (Essential)
- Experience in an R&D focussed organisation (two years) in the public or private sector (Essential)
Skills, talents, abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with ability to present complex information effectively to a range of audiences (Desirable)
- Strong evidence of working in small teams to deliver projects in a timely manner (Desirable)
