Commitment to excellence
Established in 1973, the family-run auctioneering business has been dedicated to serving the greater Leinster area with a steadfast commitment to excellence. They have built a solid reputation by offering bespoke, customised packages designed to meet the unique needs of each client. REA Sothern pride themselves on maintaining clear and consistent communication, ensuring that both sellers and purchasers are always well-informed and confident throughout the entire process.
Buying or selling a property is one of the most significant transactions a person goes through, and the process rarely runs smoothly. For REA Southern, progress was regularly stalling at the conveyancing stage, where communication between solicitors slowed everything down by weeks, sometimes months. With no shared platform connecting all parties, visibility across the process was limited and accountability was difficult to pin down. Buyers were left chasing updates, agents were managing communication, and solicitors were caught in the back and forth.
Clarity and accountability
A web application that brings every party involved in a property transaction onto one platform was proposed by the client. The team in Walton Institute developed a UX strategy and a high fidelity click through prototype for the application, that brings clarity and accountability to that buying/selling process.
The design process worked through three phases; low, mid and high fidelity mapping out the needs of very different user types and working through an intuitive navigation that made sense for all of them. Each round of iteration was focused on reducing complexity, making sure the experience was accessible and straightforward whether that is a first-time buyer or an experienced solicitor managing multiple cases.
The proposed result is a platform where the full process happens. Buyers browse listings and book viewings. Sellers manage valuations. Solicitors handle conveyancing without the back and forth. Agents oversee every stage from listing to close. Each stage is clearly assigned and visible to the relevant parties, so everyone knows where things stand and who is responsible for moving them forward.

“The team brought a high level of expertise, structure, and clarity to the process, helping to transform my initial concept into a well-defined user experience strategy.
What stood out most was their ability to understand not just the technical requirements, but the real-world challenges faced by buyers, sellers, agents, and legal professionals. This insight has been essential in ensuring the platform is both practical and user focused. Overall, this has been a highly positive collaboration, and I am very grateful for the support and guidance provided throughout. I look forward to continuing this journey and progressing into the next stages of development.”

The application is designed to reduce delays and improve transparency throughout the sale and cut the overall time from listing to sale. Fewer handoffs, less emails, and a process that moves at an expected pace.
