A Research Exploration is a no-cost, fully funded engagement designed to help businesses explore challenges, opportunities and ideas in a structured, low-risk way.
The initiative enables companies to connect directly with the IMaR research team to:

- Test and develop early-stage ideas
- Identify practical research and technology solutions

Supporting Innovation for Irish SMEs
The programme is tailored towards established small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that are registered limited companies in Ireland.
By leveraging the expertise within IMaR and the wider Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateway Network, businesses can gain fresh perspectives on their products, services and technologies while reducing the risk typically associated with early-stage innovation.
According to an independent review by Grant Thornton (February 2022), research investment delivers significant value, identifying an Economic Value Add (EVA) of €9.18 for every €1 invested in research.

Established in 2013, IMaR Technology Gateway is part of the wider Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateway Network, which comprises 17 Technology Gateways across Ireland.
