Do you know Enterprise Ireland have a network of Technology Gateways spread throughout the country? For companies in the West / North West (and further afield) we have put together a guide outlining what’s available in your region through the Technology Gateway Network in terms of innovation, support, funding, expertise and advice.

The West / North West regions are home to three Technology Gateways, based in the Atlantic Technological University (ATU) offering specialisations such as Medical & Engineering Technologies, Precision Engineering & Manufacturing and Wireless Solutions. With a wide array of advice and knowledge to offer as well as Enterprise Ireland funding and support, the mix of experience and expertise is second to none.

WiSAR Technology Gateway (Wireless Solutions) ATU Donegal

Enterprise Ireland funded WiSAR Technology Gateway provides solutions to Irish industry for the Internet of Things (IoT) using expertise in wireless, embedded systems and power electronics. The Gateway has a strong focus on smart devices and connected industries. WiSAR’s core strengths are applied to three research strands: The Internet of Things (IoT), Health Monitoring and Industrial Control.

Based in ATU Donegal, WiSAR is home to an extensive team of researchers and engineers working on a wide range of collaborative R&D industry projects and is equipped with a state-of-the-art test bench, connectivity devices, industrial sensors, antennae and digital controllers, for the design of prototypes and the optimisation of industrial processes. This expertise enables WiSAR to work with many product design companies to produce advanced near-to-market prototypes.

The Gateway has a dedicated ready-made R&D infrastructure which can be applied to industry problems of all sizes and in several instances, can become an external R&D source for companies that come through their doors. Projects engagement can happen at any stage in the product development lifecycle with an outcome up to an advanced prototype, Technology Readiness Level 7 (TRL7).
